Nymphoplasty Explained

NYMPHOPLASTY

Nymphoplasty is the surgical correction of hypertrophy of the labia minora and is the most often performed intimate surgery operation.Hypertrophy is usually the excessive projection of the labia minora that protrude beyond the vulvar slit and the labia majora and can rub on underwear.

“Hypertrophy of the labia minora is a functional and esthetic problem that can have a significant impact on quality of life.” —Dr Albane

 LABIA MINORA

The reduction procedure of the labial minora is the most common procedure. The intervention consists of repairing the labia minora’s hypertrophy by removing the excess loosening skin. This excess can be related to ageing or birth defect. Hypertrophy manifests itself in the excessive projection of the labia minora that protrude beyond the vulvar slit and the labia majora. It can rub on underwear and can cause functional discomfort during sexual intercourse or even in everyday life. In addition to the aesthetic and functional discomfort, there are also psychological repercussions, which can alter the patient’s image of her femininity and create a complex. The improvement is aesthetic but this procedure has a beneficial impact on the patient’s personal well-being, behaviour and development as they are relieved of their complex.

CLITORAL HOOD REDUCTION SURGERY

A clitoral hood reduction, also known as a hoodectomy, reduces the length and projection of the skin around the clitoris. This procedure can be done for various reasons, but is typically done to enhance stimulation during sexual activity or reduce excess skin that causes discomfort while exercising or wearing certain clothing.

LABIA MAJORA LIFT

A labia majoraplasty or lift is a procedure designed to surgically reduce the size of the outer, hair-bearing labia majora.

The surgeon removes two slight crescents of skin from the inner portion of each labium. The amount to be removed depends on the amount of excess tissue. In some cases, when there is atrophy of fatty tissue, a small amount of fat can be transferred from another area of the body after liposuction. This procedure is called lipofilling and can also be done with synthetic dermal fillers.
